Discuss the different processes for forming nickel steel titanium tees

It is reported that the manufacturing of seamless nickel steel titanium tees is a highly challenging technology. Cutting and welding methods cannot manufacture seamless tees, and machining methods are only suitable for manufacturing tees with smaller size specifications. The cold extrusion method and end reduction method are the essence of manufacturing tees. The cold extrusion method uses the metal at both ends to flow towards the middle to obtain the material required for the convex end. The convex end material required for the end reduction method is already present, and the excess material at both ends thickens the end. The end reduction method has a low yield but low metal flow rate, which is conducive to the successful production of tees for materials with insufficient plasticity.

Due to the poor plasticity of titanium at room temperature, tees above DN50 are subjected to end reduction hot working method. Nickel, steel, and titanium tees below DN25 are all machined by forging. Nickel and steel have good room temperature plasticity, so tees with DN50 and above are subjected to cold extrusion and end reduction methods; In the case of large batches, high-efficiency bulging presses can be used, while in small quantities, unidirectional cold extrusion with nested molds can be used; Large specification products with relatively small quantities (generally referring to DNI5 or above) use the end reduction method, while the cutting welding method is only suitable for situations with low product requirements.

The manufacturing of seamless tees is limited to products with certain thicknesses, and suitable manufacturing methods have not yet been found for products with very thin and thick walls.

In general, different manufacturing methods should be used for different materials, specifications, sizes, and batches. There is currently no ideal processing method for the tee between DN25-DN50. R&D personnel are developing a new process that will produce nickel titanium tees of this specification range with good quality.
